I will be moving out West from Ohio within the next week...any opinions on hauling my ATV in an enclosed moving truck? The move is going to take 5 days.
I was told differing things in regards to this...one was empty the gas and remove the cap...and it would be fine in the back of the truck.
Another was that I was told the fumes can become combustible and create a fire hazard in an enclosed truck with the build up of heat and all that.
There are no vents in this truck and the top of the truck has a "green house effect"...kind of like a sky-light where the sunlight comes in.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I wouldn't really worry about it.Just drain the gas from the tank. You can drop a lit cigarette in a bowl of gasoline and it won't ignite. It takes a bigger spark or direct flame.Where out west ya going?(big area). If it makes you feel better, when you stop for the night, open the back door of the truck for a few and let it air out.

I'm not going to try this...but it surprises me that a bowl of gas wont explode if a lit cigarette is dropped into it[:0]

Didn't believe it either years ago when a guy I worked with told me.I made him show me.You gotta remember it takes 1000s of volts to make a plug spark. If a weak spark would do it,there would be no need for a coil.(old days) An open coffee can of gas will not explode when lit.Raw gas won't burn, only the fumes burn when mixed with oxygen.OK Disclaimer Kids(you know who you are) don't trythis at home.
I would empty the tanks, Run it till it quits and load it in the back of the truck so you can open the doors to air it out when you stop to gas up. Don't really know if you need to but for me it would be a peace of mind. Or just tow a trailer behind.

Thanks for the tips...
I would do the trailer deal but I really don't want to run the risk of giving anyone the temptation of trying to steal it while staying at the 4 different Hotels I'll be at. If someone else was with me it would be a different situation all together.

You are right. I've seem it done (though I never felt the urge to do it myself)[8D]
I just recently moved and the moving company requested the battery be disconnected nad the gas drained, then let it run till it dies like Fooll said and youll be fine. dont add water to the tank dont add cloth to the tank and dont leave the cap off.
