I need help finding cooler (as in temperature) riding places within 200 miles of Tucson. Thanks, Shane

Shane, It might be a little far for ya, but every weekend I'm free I head up north of Pine & Strawberry (off HWY87, north of Payson)set up camp off one of the many forest roads and hit the trails and forest roads. Temps hit the high 80's maybe a low 90 during the day and get into th 50's at night[8D]. RICH

Do you have the GPS Coords where you go or directions to some trail heads?

It's going to be tough finding anyplace to ride where it is cool. I was riding last weekend around Sunrise Lake in the White Mountains at 8200ft. and the temperature during the middle of the day was close to 90 degrees. Maybe the monsoons will eventually come and the temperature will drop in the high country.

Hey Rich, is there any place in particular that you camp or ride up there? Some buddies and I are looking for some where to go this weekend that is not closed due to fire restrictions. We had talked about bushnell tanks but that is still a little warm. As far as I am concerned anything below 100 is cooler for this time of the year.
If its fast enough to do something stupid on, I'll ride it!
I turn off of 87 on to FR3(Lake Mary RD) which is also known as Clints Well, from there I turn onto anyone of the forest roads(dirt) which are numbered and pull off into any camp area that looks good. Pick yourself up a Coconino Forest map and you'll see all the marked roads/trails and where they go, It's excellent riding and never crowded, there's just to many roads and trails to ride. RICH

We were riding between Sunrise Lake and Greer. The area is actually 9200ft in elevation falling off to 8500ft. the closer you get to Greer. There are quite a few trails but they all are connected together and only about 10 to 15 miles total in length. You might find something in the Trail Guide with regard to additional riding in the White Mountains.
