Just a suggestion for cooler riding. Try Vernon AZ area. Follow the road through Vernon-it eventually turns into dirt. Leads into the Apache Sitegraves(?)forest. There are losts of FSR's ( #2,4,5,6 etc.)that branch off. Our fav is 4. Lots of good level parking to the sides.Good family riding on easy dirt roads. We were there over july 4th and not a soul around.Saw a herd of elk- approx 50 head. Its isolated but very scenic.

jenna,

Do you have to be road legal for this ride?

We don't think so. I've never seen signs prohibiting OHV's.My husbands bike is not road legal. We rarely ever see anyone at all up there. We have spark arrestors since it is forest.I would not hesitate to go back since no one seems to be there. Maybe in hunting season it is different. Roads are forest service roads but probably not maintained in bad weather.Let me know if you try it out& what you think.

You will be cited in Apache-Sitgraves if you are caught and not tagged riding on horizontally marked forest roads or county roads.

It is a shame that A-S NF is not more OHV freindly...
Awesome beautiful forest there.
