Best of luck to ya. I'm envious - between new house and promotion at work, I couldn't put in this year.[V]

Fishing and quail in October for sure though:D

I know, I know. My rifle deer tag in 36A in November is a pretty good tag though. I also have a Bull Elk archery tag in 22 in November. Two weeks to hunt elk and deer. :)

I was up in unit 10 all weekend scouting for deer. I didn't see to many deer which bothers me but the Elk up there are huge. It was Archery Elk season so we stayed out of the way of the hunters but we glassed up some trophy bulls. Man I wish I could get an Elk tag up there.

I don't blame you for not going. Kiabab is a lONG ways away! And the price of gas almost....ALMOST... makes it not worth it.

The Kaibab was fun. There was a few problems.. The weather was good but the wind was horrible. After about 8am the deer would be hunkered down deep in the trees and canyons. And since there was SO much rain this last winter, the underbrush is virtually impassible. Hard to see very far. We did see a nice 4-pt, 2 3-pts, and I did get a 50 yard shot at a 3x3, shot just over his back and a 70 yard shot at a 2x2, moving shot, just over his back again.. But it's fun to get some shots..

The game and fish said there is more deer up there than they have EVER had, wayyy too many. But he said there was SO few hunters up there it was amazing to them. They only had seen 3 dead deer in camps between friday and saturday. Must be gas prices and everything that were keeping everyone home.

I got to see SO many does and spotted fawns it was really neat. Just sat and watched them. Great to see so many young deer doing so well. There is water and greenery EVERYWHERE!

Pictures of camp and sighting in our 100-yard pins! [8D]

Keith, you need to play the odds and choose areas that are less desirable if you want to hunt or take your chances.

First of all read the topic. :( He was talking about archery hunting and if you do archery hunt you would know that an archery deer tag is over the counter. If you had read all of my post you would have been able to understand that I have a rifle Coues deer tag in November. [V] I also have an Archery Bull Elk tag in November. I am going to take two weeks off and head to the woods.

I usually draw at least an elk tag every other year, a deer tag every year and an antelope tag every 3 years. :D

I must be doing something right. ;)

Good luck to everyone this fall. :)
