View Full Version : New Hauler
I'm finally getting a Tow Hauler, picking it up Tuesday (no more sleeping in the cab of the truck!!). Any suggestions on keeping the gasoline smell out of the trailer from the quads??
Mark
I have a toy hauler without the seperate garage. As long as the bikes don't leak fuel you won't have a fuel smell problem. You may have a bike smell when you get to where your going, but by the time the trailer is unloaded and set up the smell will be gone. I was worried about the smell problem when we first got ours, but it's been fine. Remember no leaks and we do not store the bike in it either. Good luck Mark, What are you getting? Let me know when you want to go camping and riding, we're in.

I don't have garage in mine either and after 2 years it still smells new and I leave my quad in it most of the time. :)

Same here. I store my 2 quads inside the hauler. No gas smell at all.
I have the garage type and I dont have gas smells in there, I use it as alternative sleeping qtrs. and I store my quads in there, 4 normally.
Thanks guys, looks like the odor won't be an issue. Shaun, I'm getting the RPM from Norris, he just took on the line. Go by and take a look at it. 24', two queen beds and two twin beds, fully loaded. I can hardly wait!!

No gas smell in my toyhauler either. Obviously, don't spill gas on it while fueling it and no leaks. I have a bunch of moving blankets and I cover the engine while they are in there. No problems, enjoy![8D]

Same thing no gas smell either after a couple of years and many trips. If you bikes leak oil or gas I recommend getting a tarp and laying it before you bull the bikes in.
Enjoy the new toy.
Hey!!!!!!! Whats wrong with quad smell? :D

Try shutting the fuel off on the bikes and running them out of gas before you travel. This way there is no fuel in the carb to slosh out the overflows or vents on the carbs.

This won't hurt fuel injection bikes will it?

I would't do it on an EFI bike. They probably don't leak any fuel anyway. Its the carb bikes that leak fuel in transport. Just do it on the carb bikes.
The best advise on this topic is "when in doubt turn the fuel off, and run the float bowl out of gas"
going on season number 3 and still no gas smell in our hauler. Com to think of it even in our old hauler we didn't have any gass smell.
for extreme caution travel in a way that will allow you to vent the hauler as you drive.
