I'm hearing a little sumthin about the next ATR enduro in the spring. Maybe an AMA National? That would be the ticket for luring the 100mph crowd onto singletrack, eh? Just a thought.

And what about the "fall" enduro in the hills around Camp Wood?

Hey Guys,

Yes ATR is planning to have a National this year. I think the club has applied for the date of Sunday, Feb. 9 (that date hasn't been approved yet so don't take that as gospel). Stay tuned...we'll need lots and lots of volunteers and victims! :D ;)

Lots of irons in the fire folks. ATR does have a application in with the AMA to hold a National enduro in Feb 04. I have'nt heard back yet from the AMA if our app has been accepted but keep your fingers crossed.

There probably will not be a Fall ATR enduro however OFR is working on another enduro for the Spring. Yep, and AP heard right, we are trying to hold that event at Camp Wood. CharlieB has a course GPSed and everything so its just a matter of picking a date and working with the PNF. Seems the ranchers around CW hold sway with the rangers so we will see what happens. If we can just keep guys like El Gato from blowing the corners we might be in ;)

Thanks for the interest and I will keep updating as things happen. As Big Dog mentioned, all offers to help will be accepted. :D

Hey All, Good news and bad news.

Good news is the Arizona Trail Riders have been awarded a slot on the AMA/FMF National Enduro Series. The date is Feb 8th, 2004. The course will be the trails in the MP11.5 area with your favorite trails, Shelf, Peak, Waterfall, included in the course. As an added bonus we are running some real fun stuff North of Castle Hot Springs road that we have not raced on in years. Mark your calendars and start training now.

The bad news is regarding an enduro on the Camp Wood trails. Seems with the increasing OHV use in the area a full blown NEPA environmental analysis will be required before an event is approved. The PNF is not against us, its just a sign of the times and nobody can hold an event there until the NEPA is approved.

OFR is committed to this one so we will be pursueing the NEPA. However these things take time (maybe 2 years) and money (a few grand) so it will be awhile. The time I have but the cash is another thing. Seriously though, if you or someone you know is interested in donating to the cause send me an email as I would love to talk with them.

Thanks,
