Over this past weekend 5 of us headed over to Silver City NM. Anyone ever been there? A couple of the guys that went has been there before, and highly recomend that go with them.
We got there late friday night/early saturday morning. Saturday morning we set out for allie canyon. The two guys that have been there before said we have to go do this ride. Most of the terrain up there is single track with pine trees, rocks, logs, tall green grass, and moist dirt that hooked up so well you could drag you elbows in the ground. We dropped into allie canyon that lead to nice flowing corners through the tall grass with some logs to wheelie over. Serious ups and downs, sometimes the hike a bike came in effect. We than reached the hill. What we have heard about the entire time from the others. Straight up with rolling rocks, and a ledged to wheelie over at the top. Dbag was the first to attempt the climb. The trees were thick enough you could not see from the bottom if he had made it. He had showed it whos boss, and made first try. Those who still were at the bottom was getting anoxious to give it a shot. After an hour of pushing and pulling we got everyone to the top. We still had at least another two hours to go from there back to camp.
The crew continued on. Not very long after the the hill bikes started over heating from the tight no air flowing single track. Break time next to a creek that runs next to the trail, a nice cool down time for both bike and us. Most of the area from here was tight pine trees that you could rip through. After the bikes had break we headed to a fresh spring to stop and get some crisp cold water. As we were leaving the spring the clouds were building with thunder boomin.:D. We made it back to camp after 6 hours, and 10 miles of riding. Sound like fun?:)
We got back to camp ate some grub, and it started coming down. Rain:D. After about an 1-1/2 of rain, and a nap we could not let this go by without tearing it up. There was a nice 2 mile loop by our camp that we ripped and shreaded for a few laps. We decided to venture out, and go for quick ride befor dark hit. This trail that we started on took us across a mountain with trees, rock, roots, right next to a good size drop off. When we reached the top it was the best veiw that over looked the canyons, and valleys. After we realized this was real we started back to began the night.
It was hard to leave the nice cool weather yesterday, and come back to he**. If you ever get a chance go there and ride. It is worth the trip for sure!
