Its alot of fun and I'm sure you'll pick it up quick. Just don't get sucked into all the trash talking that may go on, bantering back and forth, like on the RA site is NOT the same as the trash talking that can go on among some juvenile racers. They prefer to let thier mouthes do the talk, the more mature racer lets his / her ability do the talking.

I'm probably gonna be doing desert racing, plus a lot of trail riding when there's no races.

Wow, That is a matter of preference. I always build my bikes to have alot of both.

I usually do some kind porting and polishing to increase the top end power and speed. Which kind depends on the bike. I will then select the exhaust system that will help on the bottom.

If I would have to choose, I would say that bottom end power is better. Although there is nothing worse than having an engine that goes flat on top.

From what I've heard (I've never ridden one) the 400EX has good bottom power, so I may port it and buy a nice free flow exhuast sytem. Just remember, Whiplash and other orginizations require a spark arrestor. The Big Gun Exhaust is a good choose. I use FMF personally.

Call Ben at Bens Cycle Works. He does a lot of porting. He can answer porting questions better than me.

I would ask around for people with the same kind of Quad and see what they have done.

2-strokes have a lot more options than the 4-strokes. You can buy different pipes to produce very different power outputs for 2-strokes.

My KX-500 had a lot of top end power, so I bought a FMF Gnarly to help out on bottom.

Good luck.

Time to give this post new life. I am looking (again) for an additional 2-wheeler moderator and possibly an ATV/quad moderator. Here are a few criteria:

1. Must be active in the sport, no bench racers please.
2. Specific knowledge of one or more of the following is required: singletrack, enduro, MX, racing, etc.
3. Excellent writing and political skills. Yes, you must be able to spell and be able keep peace on the RA website.
4. Must be able to visit the RA website weekly to assist with keeping topics fresh and active.
5. Must be willing to moderate for free. RA is not a revenue generating machine.

All interested parties should send me a PM of interest. Thanks for considering helping RA grow.

Does this mean that everyone is getting tired of reading my same old boring stories????:D

Being a Moderator in the RAcers Edge is pretty cool, and fairly easy. Very seldom does anybody get bent out of shape and start needing to be "moderated". The secret is to do all your "policing" in PM's and E-Mails. Don't call people out in the public forums or you'll have problems (we've seen that mistake made in the general forums a few times). Pretty much everyone understands and stayes within the lines.

Ben (Dezrcr)???? You helped me a ton keeping the piece during the Prescott Race "I'm not a cheater" thread.

Travis (Trajisto)????? Rick (Fistfull)???? Phil?????
