What's your favorite tracks in Az?
My favorites;
1. Speedworld Motoplex. Big, wide, lots of fun. They have the best soil in the state for a track. No silt, no rocks, kinda loomy. Fun for beginners to pros.
O.K. so there are a few rocks, but they're not a factor if you keep your speed up.
2. MotoGrande, Casa Grande. Used to be called Judds back before the owner passed away. Very big, wide, good soil. They have a unique watering sytem (piped in with fire hoses for "on the spot watering"). Good lights for night riding. Big, but easy jumps. This track layout and design makes a lot of sense.
3. Mammoth Arena Cross. Don't know this one?
It was built by some really good friends of mine, Frank Febbo (pro mxer), Josh and Jeremiah Schnurpel (desert/mx racers). They built this track in an old field behind the house just for fun back in 1996, but it exploded and is now a licensed legal place to ride. Very technical, short, lots of GOOD jumps. 30 miles north-east of Tucson. They have a winter series coming up this year with the Sierra Vista track. I'll post a flyer.
4. Ocotillo, Eloy. I haven't been there in a couple years, but it's always fun. Big, wide, good soil, so-so lighting. I heard they added an S-turn section that is kinda worthless. I haven't tried it.
5. E.T. Motoplex. It made the list because of the quad/vet track and it's convienance. I'm not much of a MXer so I don't like those insane leaps out of tight turns like on the "Main Track". I do like the back section with the 3 doubles and the 2 smaller table tops. The Quadzilla is also fun.
6. Canyon Offroad Park. "Suicide" is the funnest jump in the State. The rest of the track is not fun to me, rutted, and rocky. Some parts are wide and soft, others are hard packed and narrow. Lots of potential if attention was given to it.
I haven't ridden many of other tracks, If I have I can't remember them good enough. When I do ride them you will be the first ones to hear about it.
I rode the Sierra Vista track 4 years ago and kinda liked it. Hard packed flat turns is all I remember. They have completely redesigned it, and people have told me it's a hundred times better.
I watched a race a few years back at Verde Valley and thought it looked pretty cool. I have heard it is completely different now.
Thanks for tuning into Cat Chat.

It's not the bike that makes the rider fast, it's the rider that makes the bike fast!
