Hey me and some friends are heading out towards gold canyon to try and ride the area of MP 201/ 204/207 or where ever the entrance is allowed. BUT if it is locked or posted for soil restabilization what would be the closet good riding area to head too.

I was considering heading out to SR 79 and down towards the military shooting range

Some quick advise would be helpful since my stupid a@@ is heading their tomorroww.

After heading out MP 201 today i am even more confused than i was befor. The area is posted with the state trust land closed for soil restabilization. BUT there are people i observed riding in the area. We headed out to MP 204 but did not feel like getting shot by all the hunters in the area.

We then headed tom MP 207 At this area i did not see any sign that stated it was closed for soil restabilization But one of the individuals who showed up in the area at the same time as us stated he observed a sign stating that. But at the directed staging pint there is a large sign stateing that this is an OHV area and to please be responsible.

We did not feel like dealing with it if someone showed up and wanted to hassle the point. We ended up out on SR 79 on the military range. Awesome ride into the foot hills none of us new where we were though.

If anyone could tell us please do would like to ride into there farther but the two strokes that were with us did not do so well with the gas milage running those open roads.

I am waiting for a map from a lady at the BLM office that is supposed to show exactly what is open and closed so we can carry it with us in case we are stopped. That is an awesome area with many miles of trails - jumps - little home made tracks - sand - rock - it is great. So, i hope we get it cleared up soon.

the trails are somewhat marked out there, volunteers did that a few months back. the best place to stage is south of florance junction just past the tracks. there is a parking area back on the right. they are now setting those parking areas back from the road to keep the vehicles from being seen from the highway - hopefully to not have them broken into.

Don't worry, it will only hurt for a minute or two.
