As most of you know I was recruited to manicure the race course with my backhoe on Friday. I drove most of the 27 miles in an effort to knock down the nasty water bars that would result in front end augers or rear tire kickers. Whiplash (Jay) was very concerned about riders safety and told me to use my own judgement on how to fix them. You would not know how bad they were unless you were one of the many cheaters pre-running Friday. UNREAL how many bikes, quads, buggies & trucks were out there with me in the hoe - it was pretty scary for all of us! Anyway I did my best to leave the good jumps and make it a fun course & take out the bad ones. Riders were also complaining to me that I made the infield jumps to BIG and they were not there to ride Moto-X. Gotta tell U guys I spent three hours making those infield jumps and I thought they were great. But I'm one of those guys that will go out of their way on a trail to catch a little air! How about a little feedback - still have a knot on my head from driving that backhoe on 27 miles of race course. [}:)]

Wish I could of gotten out there at least on the pre-run to check it out. Either way, good or bad, thanks for all your efforts.

What can I say, I was having a blast and loving every minute of it until the rear end of the bike tried to go into orbit. The infield jumps were just about prefect and it's not like there was a danger of casing on anything if you didn't jump far enough. If it weren't for all the water bar jumps and the infield jumps, Snowflake would be a very boring course instead of just a boring course.
I'm thinking you did an excellant job.

I think you did a great job. I can think of about 2 or 3 water bars that could still send you flying pretty good, but what would a race be without a few good obstacles. The infield jumps did seem pretty big at first, but I enjoyed them...they definitely launched me straight and true.

Fisk,
I wondered if someone had built up the two jumps in the infield. I came flying around the left hander during the pre run, and thought this looks alittle different. I hit the first one, and to my surprise jumped way to high, and way to far for desert suspenion.[B)] The skid plate left a ditch in the ground I think. After the first one I was on the binders hard so I didn't make the same mistake on the second. I have to admit you could fly good off of them, maybe you should think about working at a local mx track, they could always use a good back hoe operator who can face a jump.:D

I liked the jumps! I say make them doubles next year. [:p]
Some of the water bars were still a little gnarly, but like Fistfull said, the course would be a little boring without them. I was very happy to see part of the powerline road and some mildly technical tree section back in the course to. It seems there are enough trails in the area that whiplash could possibly make a 50-mile lap for a longer course next year.
Good Job Fisk!

You did a great job Fisk! Those infeild jumps were even old-fat-guy freindly:D. I had heard that the water bars were going to be nasty, which I was looking foreword to. Next year leave them in[}:)]

Perfect. I couldn't even tell that someone had done any last minute work on the course. None of the water bars kicked me sideways or caused a dangerous condition. The variety of size made it so racers (or at least me) could not just blast over everything.

The infield jumps were perfect, good shape, nice little kickers. Two doubles would be better, eliminating the flat landing.

Thanks for your hard work. It's much appreciated.
