I have explored this area before. There are no trails to speak of that I know about. What a shame!

UP OFF OF I THINK FR34 TOWARD WINSLOW, YOU CAN GO IN BEHIND BEAR CANYON LAKE AND THERE ARE LOTS OF TRAILS OFF THE ROADS. REALLY PRETTY AND COOL RIGHT NOW! ANY MORE QUESTIONS, I LIVE UP HERE IN PAYSON. RENEZ[8D][8D][8D]

It's been several years but I used to go to Black Canyon Lake on the Rim. Lots of forest roads and trails. Every time I went would find more, so I would expect it to be pretty good now.

Well finally Friday is coming and were heading up north, been waiting to ride, Iam still got to do the 10 hours of break-in, so I figured I wait for the camping trip to do the break-in, I had this quad for a month now and riden only once for 30 min., so as you can see Iam chomping at the bit! Got kind of a problem, theres gonna be 12 people, all family, and I know they are gonna want to ride, and a couple of them are drunk from morning on, and I dont want them riding, I have nothing against drinking beer but not if you want to ride my quad, I dont want to seem selfish or anything or a prick to them, but without pissing a couple drunks off how would I say no to them, I figure I will bring plenty of beer for them maybe that will keep them busy, and some for me after a good ride, They made a comment like ya we will break that bike in for ya, and ya you got to ride it hard and try to break it, but I know you got to take it easy in the first 10 hours or you can mess up the engine (shorten life). There will be another quad there a 600 Grizzly but seems that everyone wants to ride mine, kids, and adults, whats a guy to do about this? Like I said it's family but on my Wife's side, and her dad and cousin drink all day long, and they are the ones who want to ride it hard. I want to ride it I have waited for a month, and now everyones gonna be asking "can I ride it" I want to come right out and say NO but then problems may happen through out the camp site, any ideas guys/gals?

Bottom line is, you're responsible for the well being of anyone you let ride it. I would just tell them up front, nobody rides. If they can't deal with that, then kick the crap out of them if you have to. A good ass woopin' always seems to get the point across. On the other hand, if all the drunk in-laws get their hopes up on riding and you burst the perverbial bubble...run like hell!

I know where your coming from LSR,
Learned my lesson when I had a ATC in the '80s.
I have plenty of people wanting to borrow or ride.
Fine when I'm there.
Not fine if they are drinking and are known to be roudy (spell check)
Take the key out when you get off. believe me ..you'll get nagged at but you'll still have a unhurt ride.
If you think you'll cave in don't bring it this trip.
Not sure about the Woods Canyon area but if it's like the rest of the rim all you'll mostly find are forest roads.

Hey guys, the camping trip was successful, had a blast riding on all the trails up there, it was quad friendly no restrictions. Where we camped was down the Rim rd. and continued down "300" towards Bear Canyon Lake, the to "115" took that road to "91" and found a great spot to camp, there were 6 trails right at the camp area, there were a few people out there camping and trail riding, it was a good time. Found some very old cabins back in the forest, they seemed like from the 1800's. Seen some Elk, and Deer, even some fricken "Wild Turkeys", the Elk were bugeling all night and its was COLD! It was family and friends altogether (19 people) and everyone got along. Probably wont be up there until it warms up, like until spring, once the sun set it was down right freezing it got down to like 28 degrees the thermometer read at 1:00 a.m., had a total of maybe 4 hours sleep the whole trip, who wants to sleep when you have all these trails to explore, so many trails not enough time.
