Alto Pit

We had a blast riding at Alto Pit yesterday. We were on our way to Camp Wood, but SOMEONE [:I] made a wrong turn in Prescott and we wound up in some neighborhood for an hour. When we came out we were at Alto Pit - we rode across the pit and wound up on some hard core single track trail. Unfortunately I am soft core, so, after carrying my bike back down we found our boys who had done some cliff hanging trails (they were pumped) and found a nice trail on the west side of the area that was great! If I had not been so worn out from the first ride I would of done that trail again. I feel sorry for my husband who is riding behind me - he spends most of his time in first gear with the brakes on (he says he likes it back there [:0]. My son said he didnt think i would even try the trail we were on the last time but compared to the first trail it was cake! Besides, i got the bike to ride not carry!! The forest rangers up there were great! And if was free parks day in Arizona so we didnt even need to pay. I did think it was very funny to see so many people there but none on the trails - they were all riding around and around the entrance/exit rodes. And today was a big event there - does anyone know what the event was? Anyone have more info on the area? Happy Riding!

The event was an Central Arizona Trials event. It was actually held on Sunday, but many members were up for some practice Saturday. We're the folks on those funny bikes without seats riding over the rocks and making very tight turns. Alto Pit is a tremendous resource with great trails; you're right too many people just ride in circles around the road and in the pit. The trail network has some fun stuff. Do yourself and all of us a favor and keep the place clean. After the event CAT did another clean up so it sould be in good shape for a while.

Right!! We have made it a practice now to take a garbage bag and take out MORE than we take in!! Too bad we have to make up for the idiots - but if we all did a little clean up it would stay nice!
