View Full Version : Whiplash Desert series schedule

I was just checking out the Whiplash Web site, and they changed the Prescott race date (agian) to August 3-4.

I do not see how this race will ever be allowed with the fire restrictions in place. Even with a lot of rain, our deserts and forests can't recover in that short amount of time. We'll see.

The Snowflake race is still on the schedule also.

I was looking at a map of the rodeo/chediski fire, and it went right over the area were the race is held. I doubt this race will happen either.

Octobers race is scheduled - TBA, which means there probably won't be anything. If there is a race it probably will suck like ten laps around a 1 mile flat track loop in the empty dirt lot behind the Wal-Mart.

Desert racing in AZ has suffered in the past years, but this year takes the cake.

Check it out yourself.

Don't shoot the dog just cause it's limping.:)
Even if it does rain and the Prescott race gets run, I'm out. We are heading out on our vacation on the 3rd.
As far as the Snowflake race, there are some ifs but I'll bet it happens. Gotta think positive!!!

Been covered with worse than a little fire ash. At one time I drilled oil wells for a living, serious messy business.

I also just noticed on the scedule that the Wickenburbg race isn't there this year. I sent Whiplash an e-mail about it.

I love that race. It has always been one of my favorites.

If you agree, call them or send them an e-mail yourself.

A lot of times if a lot of people show interest in a canceled race they will try extra hard to add it back on.

I was at the Best in the Desert Nevada 1000 a week and a half ago. GREAT RACE! I chased all 3 days and got about 400 pictures (slides actually that I need to scan still).
Big surprise the first night at the riders meeting. BITD is hosting the Parker 425 in February of 2003. Sounds to me like they stole it away from Whiplash. While Casey didn't mention Whiplash, he did say they got their permits in first and everything is set to go. BlueWater Casino is still sponsoring the event. I guess it will start in the town of Parker and end at the BlueWater. I wonder if Whiplash even knows about this yet? He said the course will be 425 miles anf the bikes and quads will have their own "Hare and Hound" style course. I imagine the handlebar course will be much smaller..maybe the same one we've been running. I hate that rock garden!
You heard anything about this?

I seen the flier for the race on the BITD web-site last week.

Whiplash has to know about it. I bet they have the Parker Gran Prix still.

If I know Casey, he won't run us primarily on the old whiplash course. He will put us on new stuff with the old stuff in between.

He will make it interesting. I'm kinda looking forawrd to it. BITD does team races, so maybe I'll get hooked up and ride a cool bike again.

Maybe Raper will take a chance on me. We usually do good win we team up.

I got an email from Jay and Whiplash does know about it. He says it will be good for the Town of Parker. Whiplash will still have their Parker 400K/200K in January. BITD will have theirs in February. I'm not real clear on whether or not the bikes and quads are also racing 425 miles at the BITD event. I've got a team together for the Baja Mex 300 in September. We'll be racing the Quad Expert class. I'll have to see if I can drag them out for the Parker 425 to.

I was up at our cabin near Pinedale over the weekend. We took the 260 HWY. The backside of the Snowflake course that runs near the 260 got torched pretty good, allthough no where near as bad as Overgaard (sp?) Pray for rain!

I figured by looking at the maps that the "woods section" of the course got burned. I just wonder if we can still race there.

Called Whiplash today, as of 3:45PM it is still on and only a small portion of the track has been burned but she wouldn't tell me which portion.

The Snowflake race is still on the schedule also.

I sure hope they don't try to cut the Snowflake race course down like all the others.

Luck may be on our side........there isn't a WALMART within atleast 30 miles of the SF race course!!! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

PS: You guys need to quit talking about racing........it is starting to make me hurt. Just got the Zuki's cylinder ceramic coated, fresh bottom end, new chain, sprockets, cables and a fresh set of Dunlaps....and bought her a new Scott's damper for our upcoming one year anniversary (from savings of not having to buy much C-12 and maxima lately)

I sure hope they don't try to cut the Snowflake race course down like all the others.

Yeah, I can see it now.........100 laps around the jetting loop. Not bad for 5 twenty dollar bills.

PS. Remember the Holbrook race two years ago, Oh my lord!!!......made me wish I had a BSA Hornett instead of an MX'er. The only reason I raced it was because I was too tired to turn around and drive back to the valley.

Snowflake-100, September 1st is the perfect first time race.

Show up enter the first time racers class. You can go as fast or as slow as you want. Set up your bike just like a normal long distance trail ride. The laps are about 25 miles long, so you need to fuel during the race.

Desert racing is like an extra long trail ride where you don't have to stop and wait for your buddies
