View Full Version : Motorhome Deals and Info
So, I've finally convinced the wife to sell our Toyhauler and buy a Motorhome with a small enclosed trailer for the quads. I would rather drive a heavy vehicle and pull a light trailer than to drive a lighter vehicle and pull a heavy trailer.
Since she won't go for me getting a Diesel Truck to pull with, She went for the Motorhome idea.
So where can I get a nice used Motorhome for a good price? Looking for a Class C (more sleeping room) in the 25-30ft range with (Hopefully) one living room slider.
The Trailer will be going up for sale soon. Gotta replace the Battery on the hauler first and also gotta check MH prices to make sure it's financially doable before selling the TH.
Thanks,
Kevin,
If I were you, I would go check out the re-conned units at Cruise America. Sweet rigs, all new everything, except engine and drive train. 60-70k in mileage , but priced very affordably, in the 20-30k range. I know a few that have gone that route and have been very happy. Once you go to a motorhome, you'll never look back bro.

Thanks for the info G. I'm gonna check'm out. Now that I think about it, Mileage shouldn't be an issue since i'll only put about 2K a year....So that should last forever.

Ya, thanks. I know you were talking about the snowbirds that dump them cheap after there time is up (well, time to go back home, not visit you).;)
How much do I wanna spend.......Hmmmmm 5 bucks.....:D
The 21'-24's are a little small. I would really like something around 27'-31' with a living room Slideout (not neccessary, but would be cool). Rear Bedroom big enough for me to lay down and not be in the hall way. A bathroom that has some privacy and big enough where I don't have to go outside to change my mind.;)
All the other regular goodies, Generator, levelers, tow package, stereo, tv, Satelite would be cool, but not really important. Somethin with a nice layout and not cluttered.
Kinda like this one.

Anyone know a ballpark on Registration and Insurance and any other costs associated with a MH? I know that no one can give exacts, but some ballpark figures would help out.
Thanks,

Thanks,
I think my insurance on a 2001 28.5' MH is $400-500 a year.
Registation depends on value.
Insurance for my 06 D-Pusher is $1400/yr with full coverages.

Ex-rentals are good because they are cleaned and maintained after each rental and you can pick them up a little cheaper because of mileage and just the fact they we're a rental. BUT, there is a downfall. Anything with 50,000 miles and above will take a 25% hit on resale value, over 25,000 miles an instant 12.5% hit. Now if you plan on keeping it for quite a few years or are buying it outright then it's not gonna be too bad, but when financing you will be badly "Upside Down" immediately after buying. With a big deposit you can keep from getting too upside down, but your deposit is gonna go bye bye. Just wanted to give you a heads up, i learned this the hard way before getting into the RV business.
Ya, We don't plan on selling it anytime soon, cause we purchased the Drivetrain/Box Warranties just because of the mileage. Doesn't matter to us.
Picked up a 28'r from Cruise America for 1/2 the price of the smaller "trashed" used one's that we have been looking at.
But that's ok, I usually take a bath on everything I buy. HAHAHA Why change now.[:I] But this will be like our other vehicles, just work harder to pay it off asap.

We're still waiting for them to install the Awning and Ladder (free) and get the financing in order. But I will have pics soon (I hope).
