Well if you have access to a big scale it will be easier. What I did was weigh the truck solo. Then attatch the trailer. Drive just the truck on the scale. The difference between the two is the tongue weight. You can then drive both on the scale. Subtract the solo truck weight from this and you have what the trailer weighs.

That makes way too much sense, and is too simple. I need a complex, confusing set of contradictory, frustrating instructions - preferrably written by a non-english-speaking person from Shanghai who uses three passes through Google Translator to go from Mandarin to French to English. Throw in a digital measuring device attached to some blinking lights and a siren and I think we'll have it nailed. :D

Tongue weight is typically 10% of the trailer weight.

That is what you are looking for, 10% of total trailer weight on the hitch. Toy haulers are tough to get that balance on, because the load is always changing. It is better to have a little more, than less.:)
