View Full Version : input on popup toy haulers
I'm looking at the RT11 scorpion and fleetwood popup toy haulers, does anyone have any input on the pro's/con's or scorpion vs. fleetwood vs. starcraft RT, any owner input?
I have owned a Fleetwood Yukon for the last 10 years, back when it was still called a Coleman, and have dragged it to some pretty remote camps. Fleetwood does build their pop ups pretty well and I love it! I have also been doing some preliminary research on toyhaulers. So far I like the floorplan of the WW CR but the mechanicals of the Coachman Adrenaline 5th wheel are very nice. Unfortunately, I have never actually seen an Adrenaline 5th wheel althought Coachman assures me that they really do exist. Having said this, I really like the ability to DRAG my pop up practically anywhere my tow vehicle is able to go and realize that will not be possible with a 40ft trailer. Like you, I want to keep my pop up but would like to take 2 quads and am not fond of the in truck bed systems that allow you to do that. I like the design of the Fleetwood Evolution, Starcraft RT series, and Jayco Baja. I have not evaluated this in person and the one problem I see so far with the published specs is that the deck on the Fleetwood Evolution E2 is rated at 500lb, the quad I would be hauling on the deck would be no lighter than 600lbs. From what I have read, the Scorpion or the Jumping Jack trailer is the only option that allows you to haul more than one quad without a rack to remote camps and gives you the comfort a little better than a tent. Keep in mind that no matter which pop up you get, it is still a glorified tent and is limited by the amount of water that you haul and they have no holding tanks so the shower or toilet options are really a waste of money.

I own the Scorpion S1. It is a great pop up with lots of room. I strongly suggest you have an AC put in it. I am very pleased with ours and it does a great job for comfort and room. The only con is that the tiolet tank has to be pulled out and manually dumped. Not good...

My Coleman Sante Fe CP tent trailer is like that.
