My kid and I have been going out behind the Honeywell facility in Chandler heights area shooting his paintball guns. Ive seen alot of shells and debris there. There are houses just N of the dirt road there, they are at least a couple hundred yards away. As you get further SW of the houses and test lab we find more debris and no structures in site. Is it legal to be shooting off out there? Paintballs are cool for 12 year olds (and 33 olds I must say) but I have my 30-06 that needs some trigger time. Thanks

Do not take your guns out there unless you don't mind losing them to the indians. that is reservation land.

I'm part Cherokee, I should be ok :).
Seriously, I knew that already, just was wondering why so much destruction was out there. I live out there myself, but have NEVER heard any shots...There are no posted signs stating to keep off the land. Tons of trails to run the new truck though.

Years ago(80's) the Indians did give a hoot that people where out there. I used to wheel in that hug pit on Queen Creek and Rural every weekend. Then in the 90's the Indians got a wild hair up there butt and decided enough's enough....probably cause of all the destruction and mess. Heck people used to cut firewood out there.

Honestly....if you need to shoot...go to a range. The desert's F-up enough as it is. Been to Sycamore lately....sad...really sad. 4Peaks area is not getting any better..

I agree. Did go this past weekend for the boy to shoot his paintball guns. Damn boy is a natural sniper. I could not believe all the trash and debris everywhere. Every little turnout there was a dump site. Pretty sad. I definitely will not be contributing to the destruction.

The shells and debris may be a decade old (or more). The San Tan mountains used to be the venue for wild drunken teen orgies and such. Generally we'd drive down Bell (?) road and out into the desert. Then we'd light bonfires and have a desert party. People would be rolling their trucks down Bell hill, 14yo's would be plastered, staggering around, once a stolen school bus got dropped off and burned (I only saw the remains, which sat for years). In fact, I lost my virginity at one of those San Tan desert parties. ;)

From the top of Bell hill, you could see the police coming 10 minutes away. They really couldn't enforce anything. It all got shut down in ~1999.

Imagine Sycamore creek debauchery, and then multiply by 10X.

A bit further south is Indian Res. If you wanna shoot, a preferable option may be finding a different place a bit further south, near Florence.

I can vouch for that, 17yrs ago I got caught by the Indian police shooting a mile or so east of the Honeywell SanTan plant. They did take all 30 of our guns and about 1500rds of ammo. $200.00 later and a visit to the Indian court and we got it all back.quote:Originally posted by DesertBlackBear

Ha! I was wondering if you'd remember. That was one of the most confusing nights of my life. After seeing the other 14 guys take you over the tailgate, I didn't wanna be the lone standout... peer-pressure and all.

BTW, sorry about the whole "donkey punch" thing.
