This may be a dumb question but I need to know...
When going up a dune as in Comp, Test etc... and you cant get all the way up... Is there a "set" way {LEFT OR RIGHT} to turn.... to go back down [?]
I ask because I tend to turn to that left... but always wonder if I am going to be turning into someone else coming up... cuz how are they spose to know I am gunna turn???

Great quetion Kim, I turn left doesn't mean that it is right because I've seen all kinds of diffrent turns.
My quess is, that it is a judgement call based on traffic around you, traveling both up and down the hill.
If your turning because you can't make it all the way there is a good chance that not many are going to be behind you or to the side of you as they hopefully made it all the way up, in which case the traffic coming down the hill would be a little more important for you to be aware of.
Does anyone else have some thoughts on this. Lets hear from some of those ASA guys on this one.

Come to think about it, most of the people that I know of turn to the left. I wonder if it has to do with most people being right handed and and if you turned to the right it would be jambing your dominant right hand and arm into your body and the fact since the throttle is on the right you have more control with the grip away from your body.
Just a thought.

Kim.... there really isn't a rule on which way to turn...just always be aware of your surroundings... just like on the road look before you make your turn... I always check each side of me on my way up before I start slowing down, just in case I do need to turn.

There is no "rule" on which way to turn. Make sure you look before you turn. It is better to stall on the hill then to turn in front of a hill racer on a built bike and no brains.:)
