A friend of mine wants to go camping and riding at Lynx Lake. We usually go dispersed camping, not in a camp ground, but out in the middle of no where to ride as we please. Is riding around LYNX lake allowed or do you have to trailer your ATV out of the camping area to ride? I went to the LYNX Lake site, clicked on the OHV Riding Link, and all that popped up was a list of local riding areas (Alto Pit, Hayfield Draw, and a few others). Thanks for any info in advanced.

Luke,

Last year I met you, X_DA_C and Tim (I forget his screen name) up off FR300. You guys were camping up there. What was the FR you camped on, I am thinking it was FR84 but not sure. It was a great place to stage and I am thinking about going up there for awhile Saturday with my wife for a little fun ride, 20 miles or so...

I know, the gift of coming from P-Town, I dont need to do the 8 hours endurance run. Depending on how she feels, we usually do a run, eat lunch and then do another run and them head home. I am not organizing anything though. Not even sure we are going, but if I do, would like to find that spot.

i have a Samsung 67 inch DLP 1080p free to any handyman who wants to fix. The problem most likely is the lamp ballast. The projector lamp is new within the last 7 months and is known to be good. The set turns on, the picture lights up and you can see the picture but a minute later the set shuts off.

I was going to pay to have it fixed until we decided to upgrade to a new smart TV with wifi internet connection. We have had no other problem with this set. When working, it has a beautiful HD picture. Link below is just one place to purchase ballast board.
Hurry, one way or another, its got to go.

There is an overnight 4x4/Jeep trip scheduled for this coming weekend, May 4th & 5th starting in Mammoth, Az. And going to...

There is an overnight 4x4/Jeep trip scheduled for this coming weekend, May 4th & 5th starting in Mammoth, Az. And going to the east end of the Aravipa Canyon and then to Klondyke Az. This trail is VERY rough and it will take ALL day to travel to the camp site in Turkey Creek canyon near the confluence of Aravipa Creek. The trail has a few ledges so at least 31” tires are recommended. The trail is rated an intermediate (3 out of 5 – 5 being extreme) due to its roughness and remote area.

Make sure your vehicle is in GOOD repair to avoid delaying the group with preventable trail repairs. Bring tools, spare parts, tire plug kits, 1st aid kit, tow strap, food, water (no alcohol before or during the run – except after we make camp around the camp fire), camping gear, etc. There will be no mobile phone service for most of the run so we HAVE to be able to take care of our own issues if something happens. Help coming is measured in many hours if not overnight.

It may be possible to do this trip in one VERY long day. Be prepared not to get back to the Phoenix area until late evening or later if you don’t want to camp.

The trail starts in Mammoth Az (South from Superior or just east of Oracle) and goes north east through a remote mountain range. The trail comes out at a very small town of Klondyke Az (no services) and there is a graded dirt road from there heading out to the south to Wilcox. Then you get on I-10 and come back through Tucson.

OR we can come back out the way we came in, back to Mammoth….. That can be decided Saturday night around the camp fire….

To get to Mammoth, I think the best way is south on State Route 79 from Florence Junction through Florence. Continue south to State Route 77 and take a left towards Oracle. Go through Oracle to Mammoth. The alternative way is to go to Superior and south on State Route 177 and then south on State Route 77 to Mammoth.

It’s a two hour drive to Mammoth. Gas up in town to start the trail with a full tank. Mammoth is not a big town but there is a Circle K.

For the Phoenix area, we will meet at the Chevron gas station just south of US-60 and Goldfield Rd. exit. We will be leaving there at 7am. We will be in Mammoth at 9am. We will gas up and air down in Mammoth and be on the trail at 9:30am. I hope to make camp in Turkey Creek by 3pm.

If you are coming from elsewhere, meet us in Mammoth at 9am at or near the Circle K. Look for Jeeps/4x4 vehicles with camping gear.

RSVP to this e-mail if you are going with your name, vehicle description, e-mail address, and mobile phone number for last minute changes.

I need at least three other trail capable 4x4 vehicles to go on this trip, otherwise the trip will be cancelled.

Check your e-mail on Friday for last minute information or cancellation notice.

If you have any questions, ask….
